lNevada's so-called "Ethics Commission" permits corruption. Next to the state's judges and the AG's office, the Nevada Commission on Ethics is the saddest joke in the state.

When Lt. Col. Sam Dehne, Northern Nevada's foremost watchdog, filed an ethics complaint (one of many) against then-mayor of Reno, Jeff Griffin, the Commission displayed clear bias for Griffin. Commissioners even invited Griffin to join them in deciding how to discourage Sam's watchdogging. Together, they decided to fine Sam $5,000 for "frivolous" complaints. Sam took this insult against decent government into federal court. With assistance from a top-gun ACLU attorney, Sam won and the fine was cancelled. Commissioners were exposed as thugs in 3-piece suits.

When a state employee became a whistle-blower against the Commission ~ and produced big boxes of evidence ~ she was fired. Her evidence was ignored by key members of the legislature.

When a woman member of the Reno City Council took a complaint to the Commission, and just before a related hearing, the Commission's heavy-set, male, then-director went ballistic and would have taken a swing at the council woman if this publisher had not been present to step in between the two.

When this publisher filed a complaint against then-mayor Jeff Griffin for abusing his public powers to benefit one of his businesses, Griffin stated during a hearing that he no longer owned or had a financial interest in said business. It came out, however, that Griffin had not cashed out of the involved business and had agreed to take installment payments over time. Obviously, he DID still have a financial interest in the business. However, the corrupt Commission ruled in favor of Griffin and dismissed the complaint.
